OBJECT

This standard specifies the material and design requirements for static dissipative protective clothing, excluding protective gloves and footwear that are separated from the garment.

REQUIREMENTS

PRETREATMENT: According to manufacturer’s instructions or by default 5 cleaning cycles

CONDITIONING:  minimum 24 h at 23 ± 1 ºC with a relative humidity of 25 ± 5 %

TEST METHOD TEST STANDARD DESCRIPTION REQUIREMENTS
SURFACE RESISTIVITY EN 1149-1 Pre-treated fabric. The sample is placed on an insulating base plate and a set of electrodes are placed on the sample and direct current is applied to them , thus measuring the resistance of the fabric. Geometric mean of surface resistance
≤ 2.5 10 9 Ω
LOAD DISCIPLING EN 1149-3

Method 2

Pre-treated fabric.

A field electrode is placed under the sample with no sample-electrode contact. The fabric is induction loaded, and the load is measured, the field reduction is used to determine the semi-dissipation time and the coefficient of protection.

-Any geometric mean of t50 < 4 s according to method 2.

or

-Arithmetic mean of S > 0.2 according to method 2.

ELECTROSTATIC CHARGE DISSIPATION EN 1149-5 Defines requirements of EN 1149-1 or EN 1149-3 method 2 -Compliance with at least one requirement of EN 1149-1 or EN 1149-3 method 2.

– If the material contains conductive wires in a pattern of stripes or grids, the separation of these wires must be ≤  10 mm.

-If a material is made up of two or more fully bonded layers, all layers must meet the requirements, or the inner or outer surface must meet the requirements when tested as a composite material. In the event that the outer surface does not meet the requirements, the combined thickness of the non-dissipative layers may not exceed 2 mm.

GARMENTS

DESIGN

  • You must comply with EN ISO 13688
  • In the event that the garment is made up of several separate layers, the material that forms the outer layer must meet the material requirements.
  • Accessories that are fully adhered to the outer material (coated or laminated) shall comply with the material requirements tested as a composite material.

MARKING AND LABELLING

MARKING

  • Marked according to EN ISO 13688
  • Mark with the following pictogram:
  • On garments, also mark with the pictogram of operating instructions
