Garment maintenance recommendations
As you already know, at a domestic level, when doing the laundry we follow certain well-established guidelines, such as washing clothes by separating colours to prevent them from bleeding onto other garments. This is why we instinctively separate garments by fabric type (cotton, polyester, etc.) and by colour (separating white garments from dark ones).
More and more protective garments (PPE) are made using combinations of different colours, usually a dark base colour and a light, high-visibility colour. This makes colour separation more difficult, and for this reason special care must be taken with the washing and drying conditions of these garments to prevent colour changes—especially in light or fluorescent colours, which are particularly prone to colour variation during washing.
As with all garments (fashion, domestic, industrial, home textiles, protective equipment, technical textiles, etc.), during the first washes there is a possibility of colour migration from the products used in the dyeing process due to their hydrophilic properties.
In addition, there are several variables that play an important role in garment maintenance: detergents, additives and chemicals; time, temperature and humidity; washing machine and dryer load capacities; mixing of colours and fabric compositions; the type of garment construction used, and so on.
For this reason, we provide the following recommendations to minimise this effect and to maintain the properties of the garments in the best possible condition throughout their service life:

- Follow the washing, drying and care instructions indicated in the fabric technical data sheets (using a higher temperature than specified may degrade the garment). In the case of composite garments, use the least aggressive conditions.
- We recommend using a detergent containing enzymes, as their function is to prevent colour migration between garments.
- Group garments by similar colours and identical washing and drying conditions. Avoid mixing two-colour garments with very dark garments.
- Do not use bleach or fabric softeners unless their use is expressly permitted in the garment’s technical data sheet.
- Avoid delays between the washing and drying processes to prevent colour migration by capillary action due to residual moisture after washing.
- Respect the garment’s service life.
